Real Bridal Beauty: Jen
Real Bride, Real Beauty.
June 2019 bride, Jen.
We had the absolute pleasure of working with the beautiful Jennifer for her June wedding this year! We did both hair and makeup for her, her maids, and the moms.
Jen’s wedding ceremony and reception was held at the stunning French Creek Golf Club located in Elverson, PA.
The “vibe” for Jen’s rustic golf club wedding was nothing short of romantic. From the bridesmaid dresses to the florals, everything perfectly complimented her romantic vision.
Jen’s Wedding Day Look
When Jen and I met for our trial in April, we discussed her ideal look. We agreed on keeping everything natural, yet enhancing - just enough makeup to look good in the photos. As for hair, Jen chose to work with our Master Stylist, Kelsey. Kelsey created a perfectly crafted “un-done” half up-do for Jen, which lasted all day and night.
What We Used
To create Jen’s simple and glowing bridal look, I’ve made sure to only use products suitable for her skin type, and to throughly prep her skin before apply any cosmetics.
SKIN PREP: To start with a good canvas, the skin must be prepped correctly. This is an essential step to every makeup application and can make or break the wear-time of the look. Since Jen has unproblematic skin, I prepped her using products made for “normal” skin, and made sure to control shine since her wedding was in June (June in PA can be brutal!).
Cleanser: I started by cleansing her skin with Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water.
Mask: Next, I applied a quick 60-second mask to ensure the skin was clean and supple. My fave mask for fast results is Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple Deep Clean Mask.
Moisturize: My absolute favorite moisturizer for brides with normal-dry skin is Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream. I applied a generous amount of this for Jen to ensure she would have a healthy glow from under the makeup.
Prime: After Jen’s skin was supple and glowing, I applied a little of Chanel’s Le Blanc Brightening Primer (specifically on the high points of her face). I absolutely LOVE how this primer makes all skin look!
FACE & EYES: I consider skin THE most important part of every makeup application; eyes are just an accessory! My #1 goal with every client if to ensure their skin is perfected, healthy looking, yet NATURAL. After I prep the skin, I work with select skin products to achieve this look.
Foundation & Concealer: The foundations I used on Jen were a mix of Face Atelier and Temptu’s Hydralock airbrush foundations. I also used Tarte’s Shape Tape concealer and NARS’ Radiant Creamy Concealer where needed.
Cheeks: I never “contour” my brides; I bronze and sculpt if/where needed. For Jen, I used Dior’s Backstage palettes for shaping and highlighting.
Eyes: Jen’s eye look was a combination of Viseart’s Grande Pro 1 palette and NARS’ eyeshadows. Liner used was Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Jet’ cream liner. Lashes were lash extensions.
