planning your wedding morning

“my wedding ceremony was at 4:30pm, and we started hair + makeup at 6 am”

As a 2023 bride, I experienced wedding planning from a fresh perspective. As a wedding vendor, I understood that hair and makeup on the wedding morning take time, especially with a large group.

I had 13 people scheduled for hair and makeup

We were getting ready off-site from the wedding venue, which I didn’t have access to until 11 a.m., and my first look was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Cue the strategic planning!

Factoring in travel, packing, setup, and breakdown, the game plan was set in motion. With 2 makeup artists and 2 hairstylists, we were in hair and makeup from 6:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and it was perfectly timed. Why the early start, you ask? Well, it wasn't just about beating the clock; it was about savoring every moment.

There was no mad dash, no last-minute chaos…Just a fun morning filled with laughter and the fun beauty process.

Here’s what to expect while planning your wedding morning (from a wedding pro and previous bride)

  • The time dedicated to each person can vary, ranging between 40 and 60 minutes. Remember that this duration is different and unique to the service providers you choose. As a rule of thumb, we usually allocate around 45-50 minutes per person, per service on average.

  • The hair and makeup artists will arrive about 30 minutes before their first service so they can set up. This allows them to set up their stations and, sometimes, tweak the room's layout to ensure it's conducive to hair and makeup.

  • To account for the unpredictable nature of any event, including the occasional delay or touch-up moment, it's wise to incorporate 15-30 minutes of padding time at the end of your beauty timeline.
